An event combining two extraordinary phenomena \u2013 a partial solar eclipse and the peak of the Perseid meteor shower \u2013 will take place near the Mon Plaisir Tower. The programme will include telescope observations, astrophotography workshops, meetings with astronomy enthusiasts and an evening tour of the historic tower.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Two extraordinary astronomical events on the same day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not often that, on a single day, one can observe both <strong>partial solar eclipse<\/strong>, as well as those taking place on the same night <strong>the peak of the Perseid meteor shower<\/strong>. This is a unique opportunity to begin your astronomical adventure before sunset and bring it to a close beneath the starry skies of the Izera Mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to the low levels of light pollution, the area around Pobiedna is one of the best places in Europe for stargazing. It is here that a historic site linked to the study of the heavens is being revived \u2013 <strong>The Mon Plaisir Tower<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Event programme<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants can look forward to a packed programme organised jointly by the Izera Local Tourist Organisation, the event\u2019s partners (the Krasicki Hotel Resort &amp; SPA in \u015awierad\u00f3w-Zdr\u00f3j and the \u015awierad\u00f3w Forest District) and astronomy enthusiasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The programme includes, amongst other things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>safe observation of a partial solar eclipse through solar telescopes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>astrophotography workshops led by <strong>Micha\u0142 Zimny's<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>observations of the night sky and the Perseid meteor shower peak,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>stories about stars, meteors and the mysteries of the cosmos,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an evening tour of the Mon Plaisir Tower,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the opportunity to support the restoration of a historic monument.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event is aimed at both families with children and those who are just beginning their journey into astronomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mon Plaisir \u2013 a place designed for stargazing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mon Plaisir Tower is not just a random venue for hosting astronomical events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the early 19th century, its creator, <strong>Adolph Traugott von Gersdorf<\/strong>, he carried out numerous astronomical, meteorological and geophysical observations here. The tower was the venue for scientific meetings and experiments conducted by one of Upper Lusatia\u2019s most eminent scholars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The restoration of this exceptional historic monument is currently underway. Our aim is to create <strong>centre for science, history and astronomy<\/strong>, which will once again be used to promote knowledge and the observation of the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organising events such as the Perseid Night is a natural continuation of this tradition, which dates back over two hundred years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Micha\u0142 Zimny will lead an astrophotography workshop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the guests at the event will be <strong>Micha\u0142 Zimny<\/strong> \u2013 a renowned astrophotographer and populariser of astronomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the workshop, participants will learn the basics of photographing the night sky, find out how to set up their camera to take photos of the stars, and discover how to capture shooting stars.
